Brisbane Basketball Inc. is excited to announce the appointment of Open Architecture Studio to the Auchenflower Reinstatement project. The Open Arecture team have a wealth of experience working with local governments, education providers and community sporting organisation, taking projects from the feasibility and master planning stage through to the ribbon cutting. The design team will be headed up by Founding Director and Principle Architect Michael Bailey, Project Lead Heinrich Olckers and Alyce Geibel.
BBI GM Hamish Cain said that; “ there are two critical outcomes for the redevelopment of Auchenflower Stadium, these being; a resilient design that will minimise future potential weather events and the reconfiguration of the venue better connecting spaces and courts which will greater improve the player and spectator experience”.
Auchenflower Stadium is the spiritual home of basketball in Queensland; the Management Committee firmly believes that Open Architecture has the skills and care to assist in ensuring that our home continues to meet the needs of the basketball community well into the future. The Management Committee would also like to again acknowledge Hon. Stirling Hicnhlife and the Department of Innovation, Tourism and Sport for their support of this project.
